Clothes are a means to express. communicate. connect.

ARTAJ connects through clothes, creates a dialogue,
brings together the contrasts in :

Cultures — Indo / Parisian
Gender — Masculine / Feminine
Time — Nostalgic / Futuristic
Feeling — Control / Surrender
Form — Angular / Round
Savoir-faire — Drape / Structured Tailoring

Juxtaposing these contrasts creates beauty. thought. art.
And we ultimately move towards equilibrium.

Handwoven Silk & Cotton Striped Tweed

Handwoven in India from silk and cotton, celebrating the texture and character of artisan weaving.

Hand Block Printed Viscose

Printed by hand using carved wooden blocks, rooted in India's centuries-old textile tradition.

ARTAJ will be featured in a documentary presented by Anne-Claire Coudray, airing in the end of the Summer 2026.

ARTAJ explores the contrast between Parisian flou tailoring and Indian draping culture.

Through this presentation, ARTAJ will serve as a window into both cultures. Both fashion techniques—Parisian flou tailoring and Indian draping—are the result of their respective surroundings, and especially of the people who shaped them.

We will talk about how we used these ideas in our collection, the challenges we faced, and the process behind bringing them together.

It'll be our first presentation, where not only will the collection be shown, but we'd also like to create an immersive experience for everyone— because connection is what clothes are for, and that's what ARTAJ is for.

Rajat Kumar is the Founder and Creative Director of ARTAJ,
an Indo–Parisian cultural house born through movement between worlds.

Educated across engineering, business and fashion — from Delhi College of Engineering to ESSEC Business School and the LVMH Chair in Paris — his path has been guided by a persistent search for beauty, meaning and human connection.

Experiences within houses including Koché, AMI, Balenciaga and Givenchy shaped his understanding of contemporary luxury, craftsmanship and brand language, while life between India and Paris formed a wider dialogue between cultures, disciplines and ways of seeing.

ARTAJ began as a desire to connect — people, ideas and sensibilities that may appear ordinary when viewed from within yet reveal unexpected harmony when seen from another perspective.

At the intersection of structure and emotion, Rajat approaches creation as a search for balance, where clothing becomes a meeting point between cultures, memory and human experience.
